Yet another fabulous exhibition for Mrs Harris’ Shop.
I was immediately taken with Heather Young’s work when she showed a couple of her pieces in a group exhibition last year. I knew then that we had to have a show of her own.
Heather is deeply affected by the past and labels herself a collector and fossicker. She has collected remnants of her own family’s life to shape this exhibition, which is built around her family’s relationship with the Murray Mallee.
In hanging this exhibition, I realised just how appropriate an exhibition of this nature is (one that’s steeped in the past), for this gallery.
The essence of this gallery is the past – the women who married in to the Harris family and ran this little shop before me, the sense of family history within these walls and the part it played in the history of this part of Torrensville.
So, thank you Heather, for your beautiful pieces. They feel, and look right at home.
Footprints opens Friday 6 June. It’s then on show Saturdays and Sundays 11am – 3pm until 22 June.
